2024-2025 Contest Details are HERE!

Our theme for 2024-2025 is "Wetlands are Wonderful".

 

All provided resources will be released on October 11, after our 5th grade Conservation Fall Field Days (Sept. 24-Oct. 4). In the meantime, please research all that you would like to at the library or online!

Students may compete in one or more contest categories listed below:

  • 9-12th grade Essay, Slideshow, and Speech

All 9-12th grades are judged together on a high school level, not individual grades. For contest details and resources please see our Contests page.​

The 2024-2025 High School Environmental Field Day!

 

This event is open to high school students in Earth/Environmental Science and CTE Agriculture-related courses. The event will begin at 9:00 am at 500 Woodmen Ln., North Wilkesboro, at Lunch will move to the Edwin H. McGee Natural Resource Center and we will conclude at 2:25 pm, with lunch included.

New this year, schools that register will need to break students up into teams of 5, as for our application soils pit this year it is a competition with prizes.

1st Place: $50 per student on the team

2nd Place: $30 per student on the team

3rd Place: $20 per student on the team

​

The event is based on the NC Envirothon Soils Manual, NC FFA Land Judging Manual, and the following NCDPI curriculum standards: ESS.EES.4.1, ESS.EES.5.1, ESS.EES.2.4, ESS.EES.4.4, ESS.EES.5.6, LS.BIO.4.1, LS.BIO.8.2, LS.BIO.5.2, PS.PSC.1.5, PS.CHM.4.2, PS.CHM.7.1, PS.PSC.2.4, and PS.PHY.4.1.

Check out our  9th grade Conservation Career Day Virtual Field Trip, from 2020-2021. This has previously been shared in Wilkes County Schools Earth Science and CTE Agriculture-relate classrooms.
